This notice explains what personal information Cyber Scotland Connect (CSC) collects, how we use it, and your statutory rights under UK GDPR.
1. What Information We Collect
We use event platforms (such as Meetup.com and Eventbrite) to organise our community gatherings. When you register for a CSC event, we receive limited information necessary to manage attendance:
- Your display name
- Your registered city/location
- Your platform user identifier
- Any dietary, accessibility, or question responses voluntarily submitted during RSVP
2. Purpose & Legal Basis for Processing
We process this information under the legal basis of legitimate interest:
- To manage venue capacity, fire safety, and badge check-ins at physical events.
- To measure community attendance patterns and report aggregate, anonymised metrics to grassroots supporters and venues.
- To send essential event reminders and updates via the platform you used to RSVP.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data with commercial sponsors or vendors. All CSC events are zero-sales environments.
3. Data Retention
We periodically download attendee rosters from event platforms for historical reporting and venue verification. Event attendance records are retained securely for administrative purposes and deleted when no longer required.

Under UK data protection legislation, you have specific rights regarding your personal information:
Right of Access
You can request copies of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to Rectification
You can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
